Atlas BBQ Is A Big Hit With The Whole Family

Everyone can have one of those days when you don't feel like cooking, and fast food isn't always the best option. So what do you do? My family and I recently tried Atlas BBQ, located at 1304 12th Ave in Grafton. Let me start by saying I don't typically like barbecue, it can taste too much like burnt smoke to me. I wasn't thrilled that this was the restaurant suggested we order from but, still didn't feel like cooking, so I agreed.

I ordered the Ribwich. Described on the menu as pulled rib meat, North BBQ Sauce, cheddar cheese, and creamy coleslaw on a pretzel bun. Well, let me just say, "Woah!". My sandwich was huge piled with rib meat, this was no tiny plate serving. That burnt barbecue flavor I was expecting was nowhere to be found. Instead inside the chewy pretzel bun was the perfect amount of southwest flavor. The slightly sweet creamy coleslaw complements the delicate rib meat wonderfully. I became an instant fan. I chose Atlas fries for my side. I'm still not entirely sure what specific spices are on the Atlas fries and frankly don't care, they are wonderful. Atlas fries would add a flavorful addition to any sandwich.

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to pickles. I truly expected a few soggy pickles to be thrown on the side of my sandwich fulfilling the time-honored tradition- a pickle on the side of a barbecue sandwich. I'm happy to say I was wrong yet again. Atlas BBQ pickles crunch, a happy, snappy crunch. I believe they are one of the best sweet pickles I've ever tried. They were so good the next time we ordered carry out I ordered a whole pint side of pickles. They are that good. There is something to be said for making things the old-fashioned way, and it shows in the flavor and quality of these in-house crafted pickles.

My husband loves the Brisket Reuben, a truly large sandwich, my kids love the pulled chicken sandwich and the Mac- n- Cheese. The Mac- n - Cheese truly stands in a league of its own. If you get the chance, or you're just looking for something new, give Atlas BBQ a try. It's become a carryout staple for us and it's easy to see why they're said to be one of the best 10 BBQ places in Wisconsin. For more information visit the Atlas BBQ website
