Summer Sounds to Host Nashville, TN Band "Southern Accents" on July 9, 2021
Southern Accents, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band from Nashville, Tennessee, will perform at the next Summer Sounds concert at Cedar Creek Park in Cedarburg, WI on July 9, 2021.
Portraying Petty in the two-year-old group Southern Accents is Ronnie Gregg.
Original lead singer Tom Petty, from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, died in early 2018 from an apparent accidental drug overdose of several medications.
Biographical information from Southern Accents states the band is assembled with “ace” musicians from Nashville’s studio and touring circuit.
Southern Accents recreates the style and sound of (Tom) Petty “with immaculate precision and wildly contagious enthusiasm,” according to the group’s bio.
Southern Accents’ lineup has worked with notable music stars who include Josh Groban, Trisha Yearwood and Dolly Parton. Bob Ocker, lead guitarist, performed with Dolly Parton for several years and Paul Jones, bass guitarist, performed with Trisha Yearwood for a couple tours.
The rest of Southern Accents is rounded out by drummer Tony Mac, keyboardist Jeffrey Hollandsworth, and rhythm guitarist Jace Aaron, who also provides supporting vocals.
Aside from the bevy of Top 40 hits such as “Refugee” and “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” Southern Accents also dips into lesser known songs.
Before Southern Accents jumps up on stage, popular Milwaukee-based Americana acoustic/folk/grass musician Carrie Melton performs a handful or more of her creative lyric songs during the openimg act.
