Updates on Culver's Restaurant in Grafton, WI
Area community foodies are always keeping an eye out for the next new eating establishment to try out.
Even though Culver's Resraurant in Grafton, WI is not new, the franchise owner is closing down the existing one and is constructing an even bigger one down the road.
The current Culver's restaurant in Grafton, WI (at 2001 Wisconsin Ave.) is relocating to a new, larger site at 1743 Wisconsin Ave. (about 0.5–0.6 miles north, in the South Commercial District between Blain's Farm & Fleet and Goodwill).
The new 4,810-square-foot restaurant will feature dine-in seating for around 123 people and a double drive-thru. It is being built on the former Ahlers family homestead property (a historic 19th-century site that has sat empty for years and is currently undergoing demolition of the old home and outbuildings to accommodate the project).
The new Culver's (along with an adjacent Tommy's Express Car Wash on the same redeveloped parcel) was planned for construction starting around late 2025, with an anticipated opening in mid-to-late June 2026. The existing location will close once the new one opens.
Some area community members are wondering what will replace the current Culver's after it moves out. Good question.
Village of Grafton planning documents indicate that after closure, the owner/applicant must submit a demolition plan and permit for the existing buildings at 2001 Wisconsin Ave.
The site may also be made available for training exercises by the Ozaukee Central Fire Department and Grafton Police Department before any demolition occurs (with proper abandonment of old utility laterals.
No specific redevelopment plans (such as a new business, housing, or other use) for the old 2001 Wisconsin Ave. property have been publicly detailed in available news reports or village documents as of the latest information (into early 2026). P
The focus of coverage has been on the new construction and the demolition of the historic Ahlers homestead for the relocation—not on repurposing the current restaurant site. The move appears driven in part by limitations at the existing location (e.g., parking and traffic flow issues during busy times).
