Cedarburg School Board to Vote on Contentious Public Comment Status
The current Cedarburg School Board has apparently been misaligned or not in compliance in how to deal with public comments at board meetings.
There will be a scheduled school board meeting on Wed., Oct. 27, 2021 where board members will discuss and possibly vote to make the current policy official.
The correct policy would be to allow public comments from the public on any significant issues that are In the jurisdiction of the school board.
According to concerned Cedarburg resident Annie Krueger-Grunwald, in her recent shared Facebook post, wrote currently they (school board members) have been out of compliance by only allowing compliance on specific agenda items, when the policy allows the public to comment on "anything in the jurisdiction of the school board".
That change would allow the board president to only allow comment on specific topics (what they are doing currently).
Krueger-Grunwald added that the policy also gives the board president sole discretion on what is/isn't added to the agenda.
Krueger-Grunwald is concerned that a vast majority of the public has no idea that this change is about to take place, so she is reaching out to encourage residents too take action by showing up at the meeting, sending an email to the board members and sign an online petition.
