The Cedarburg Public Library will be installing a new outdoor book return starting Friday, March 18th and construction is predicted to be complete by Thursday, March 31, 2022.
According to the library staff, the current return is over eight years old and has served the library well with accepting 460,783 items from 221,387 library users.
"Now is the time for an update and we think you will appreciate the new conveniences, like a touch screen and the ability to stack some returned materials," Linda Pierschalla, library director said.
"The new outdoor book return, however, is a different size and will require adjusting the opening in the building. A construction company will be removing the old opening and constructing a new one, which will mean the drive-through option will not be available March 18-31, 2022.
The library is looking into other ways to accommodate an outdoor return, possibly with rolling bins. Due dates have already been adjusted, so any items that might have been due during this time will be changed to a later date.
Patrons are welcome to return their books inside as another option.
