Bluff Landslide at North Beach in Port Washington, WI

Port Washington's North Beach will be closed until further notice due to a "significant bluff failure," according to a news release from the city's Mayor and City Administrator.

The release said the bluff failure occurred on June 8 and could trigger unpredictable and sudden landslides.

Residents and visitors are being urged to stay away from the closed beach for their own safety.

The city said it would continue planning and budgeting to provide temporary and permanent solutions to the risks posed by the unstable bluff, but that a timeline for project development was not currently available.

The walkway around the city's wastewater treatment plant and the stairs connecting Upper Lake Park will remain open.
