Mequon Homestead Boys HS Football Team Moves on to 2nd Round

The fall excitement in the area just went up another notch as the WIAA state high school football Level 1 matches were held throughout the state on Fri., Oct. 23, 2021.

The Cedarburg Area Insider (CAI) communities of Cedarburg, Grafton and Mequon-Thiensville had teams who played games.

Two teams fell to the wayside, while one team moved ahead to Level 2. The two teams losing were Cedarburg and Grafton.

The Cedarburg Bulldogs hosted a game at its own field, but lost to a Washington County school located 15 miles to the west, Slinger by the score of 24 - 3. Slinger will move on to Level 2 and play at Pulaski, just northwest of Green Bay, WI.

Grafton hosted a game at home as a #4 seed and was shutout by #5 seed Pewaukee, 21-0. Pewaukee will move on to Level 2 and play #1 seed Plymouth.

Mequon Homestead hosted a game at its home field as a #1 seed, and took control early and dominated in it's win against Brookfield Central 28 -7. Homestead will move on to Level 2 and host another game at home - this time against #4 seed Nicolet.

An out of CAI area team, the Port Washington Pirates, performed well and beat Wisconsin Lutheran, 26 - 19. Port will move on to Level 2 and travel to #2 seed Whitefish Bay.
